This was a one of a kind experience! I didn't think I would be able to pull one of the long Japanese bows, let alone release an arrow successfully, but Jun broke the technique down to understandable steps and worked us up to using the bow fairly well for complete beginners. The language barrier wasn't bad at all- he explained in English and demonstration is universal. He also corrected any errors he saw us making. He also cheered us on when we actually hit the targets.
The experience does require walking and physical exertion, so only do it if you are up for working a bit. We walked about ten minutes to the archery center in 95 °F heat but once there the fans helped and we became so absorbed in learning that it didn't make a difference. The payoff is absolutely worth it! I just wish I could come back to Tokyo and do more lessons.

Bonjour,
Was really not sure how this would be going into it, how authentic it would be, that type of thing, but this is one of the few experiences in Japan that blew my mind. Highly recommended!
Very unique experience, the instructor's explanation was very clear and he also took photos for us. The venue was also great this time, with air conditioning. I want to experience it for a longer time! After the experience, you can also visit some museums to learn about the history of Kyudo.
Daichi is a very kind and energetic teacher, he will take his time to make sure you understand the forms correctly and give good demonstrations throughout. The experience itself is also very fun, it was my first time shooting a bow and Daichi gave me many tips to improve as we went along. I'd definitely recommend to anyone who wants a laid-back experience with a passionate teacher and to experience something new.
great experience for those who want to try Kyudo. I've been wanting to try it for sometime, but there isn't any neat me in the US. Learned the basics of how to shoot and was able to get 3 rounds in, dress in the Kyudo uniform, and Jun took a few pics.
We all (3 people in my group) enjoyed the experience very much. 5 rating.
The instructor was energetic and encouraging which made everyone feel at ease.
He would give personal checks on the technical aspects of kyudo (Hand position, posture, etc.)
Overall, we had a wonderful time.
Had a great time! It was HOT (35 degrees) but our host went out of his way to make sure we could be cool in the sports centre. I definitely want to try kyudo again in the future 😊
Jun was SO energetic and enthusiastic, it was hard not to enjoy everything because he had such a positive attitude. My 9 and 13 year old kids LOVED every second - Jun was attentive and very patient and engaged both of them effortlessly. Really appreciated all the hard work that went into creating this experience for us!
This was a genuine and well developed introduction to kyudo. Excellent lesson plan, that built up the steps needed to shoot your first arrows. Very safe and one of the very few Lugosi classes available. We would definitely do this again. Highly recommended!
We loved our Kyudo experience. The setup at the practice facility was great. After putting on the Kyudo uniform and learning about the philosophy and techniques, we could already feel the 'Dynamic ZEN Meditation' aspect. Daichi was an excellent instructor. As first-time archers, we had a great time.
Taken from the metro to a sports center for archery class. The host was very kind in giving us instructions on how to put on the uniform (uniform was very thoughtfully picked out and packaged for us). Lots of detailed instructions on how to shoot; it was a bit challenging for beginners with the targets being really far away but we didn’t let that stop us from having a lot of fun and learning something new
Very interesting martial art, the techniques are quite different from conventional archery (though I am a beginner in both). Jun was a fun instructor and very encouraging
Great experience, the instructor was easy to understand and friendly. We had plenty of time to learn and try out hitting the target.
We absolutely loved the experience! Jun was an excellent instructor and guided us when we needed help. He was really funny and it was easy for us to laugh at our mistakes. This experience is amazing! You should definitely do it!!
This was a great experince, in only two hours we were taken through how to shoot the bow as well as reasoning behind spesific positions. We were given plenty of time to try and shoot the targets and got to shoot from differnt distances. I highly recomend to anyone considering.
We had a fun time learning Japanese archery. It would have been better with a smaller group, but it was still a good experience. Make sure to ask for the arm guard before you start to avoid bruising your elbow as a beginner.
Great experience. Totally would recommend doing it through this group esp since you really can’t get kyudo lessons easily (most of the time you can only watch or try a couple of shots). But with this group, you literally get to shoot the whole time! And you get to learn about the methods and how it all works. Great value for your money.
Great activity for anyone interested in exploring this Japanese cultural practice. Our instructor (Daishi) was clearly an experienced practitioner of the craft. He walked us through how to approach kyudo from dressing in the uniform to taking our first shots. He also did a good job accommodating a slightly larger group + two left-handed practitioners. Several people in the group hit targets before the end of the session. All in all, recommended for anyone who's interested in trying it out!
I was so excited to experiment Kyuudo in Japan. It was the first time for me and I was so moved because I am in love with Kyuudo since 4 years. Our teacher was really kind.He showed us every movement, took time to correct our position. He was really cheerful. Wearing the Kyuudo clothes and having a bow in my hands were really a great honor for me. I hurt myself a little but our teacher was really preventing to me ! Thank you again. It was one of my most wonderful memory of my trip !!
An excellent experience. our instructor was very insightful and detailed with his coaching technique of Kyudo. This enabled us to understand the basics concepts and quickly develop our Kyudo technique to a basic standard. This was fantastic insight into traditional Japanese Culture
Unique and fun experience! The host really took the time to explain the technique and let us practice for ourselves. He also had great energy. Highly recommended, just come with an open minded if you haven't tried something similar before!
Thank you very much for the experience, it was a wonderful time. I plan to come to Japan again in the near future and would love to try it again someday. If there were lessons in Australia, I would definitely try it.
The instructor was very knowledgeable and had good English skills to explain all the steps. He took time with each person individually to improve their techniques which was very nice.
Such a genuine experience!
Instructor was knowledgeable and very supportive on teaching us. We even had to dress up
accordingly. Walk from the meetup to the venue was good to get to know everyone and ask
questions. Facility was modern and refreshing (indoors, yet outdoors)
Perfect experience for the archer fanatic's.
Absolute amazing experience, which teaches you the proper way of traditional Japanese archery (Kyudo).
It was done from beginner level to advanced level and allowed everyone to participate at all levels. Highly recommend it to anyone who wants to try something different.
Good fun n great experience!
Beautiful Day Tours made sure we were well informed of the venue and what was needed.
Sensei was quite thorough with his explanation for the experience program. Thanks for
a wonderful experience!!
This tour was everything I hoped it would be!!!
Oh wow this tour was so so incredible!!!! Our guide picked us up at meeting place and took our group to a special private Kyudo athletic facility and they had all these bow and arrows. We all dressed up and put the special glove on. We had an amazing teacher who has been doing Kyudo for 20 yrs. When did multiple rounds of shooting to arrows. This tour is was everything I hoped it would be!! Dont make a mistake and miss the opportunity to experience Kyudo in Tokyo. 😊
For anyone that wants a truly unique experience, I highly recommend this activity. My son and I had a great time learning about Kyudo from our excellent Sensei and getting to go from complete novice to actually practicing Kyudo in such a fun setting.
Thank you so much for offering this activity.
My 13 year old son and I had a wonderful time learning Kyudo from our kind and skilled Sensei.

Wonderful and authentic experience of traditional Japanese archery!
It was really fun, everything was explained wonderfully even in english & Japanese. We were guided very carefully but thoughtful it was a wonderful expierence!
Eine wunderbare Erinnerung für uns.
5 overall! The guide was well prepared and a good teacher. I also enjoyed meeting the rest of the class.
This was a very good experience. Instructions were clear and the teacher was very helpful, encouraging, and jovial. Would like to do it again when next in Tokyo.
This was a great experience. My husband and I had a lot of fun and learned so much. This was very unique experience, and we would absolutely recommend it!
The experience was amazing! We met up with others at a location near the station and arrived at the athletic center together. The rest of the lesson was really thoughtful and provided ample time to try out everything we learned, overall it was a great experience!
Truly a wonderful experience learning about and being able to give kyudo a try. Sensei was an amazing instructor. Great guidance on technique and attentive in helping with ways to improve. I learned a lot and glad I decided to do this experience. Highly recommended.
My husband & I had so much fun during this very unique experience. I would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for another way to experience and learn about Japan and Japanese culture.
This was a really unique experience! It was a complete activity from beginning to end, including how to put on the traditional wear to shooting. Instructions were good and no issues when asking for clarification. Ended up with a decent amount of shooting time which was very fun. Recommended!
This was quite a unique experience, and I will always remember my Japan trip because of it. If you are someone who are someone who has never done this before, no worries! The host is a great teacher, and he is very passionate about what he teaches. However, there is a slight language barrier, but if you watch the body movements, you can pick up on what is being taught. We had a great time especially in the outfits!
Sensei is an amazing instructor that delivered an unforgettable kyudo experience. Sensei assisted us in putting on the hakama and the proper technique for releasing an arrow. Sprinkled in the experience are insightful historical notes on the difference between kyudo and western archery that I thought was quite interesting. This is a fantastic experience I highly recommend to meet new people as well as to learn more about, and part-take in Japanese culture.
This was a truly unique experience. I was lumped in with a few other Japanese learners of Kyudo which I honestly appreciated. My only regret is that I can't take more lessons before I go. The teacher clearly had a passion for the subject at hand and was not only teaching us first timers, but other more experienced class members at the same time. I thought this really made it feel like a real experience as you could tell this was a real dojo and not just a tourist trap. 10/10 would do again!
For what is a very complex martial art, our tutor was very good at breaking everything down and we reached a good level of success through the progression that we followed. Great introduction to Kyudo, all abilities are catered for, so anyone will have an enjoyable and worthwhile experience. Well organised, from the meeting point through to the dojo, to guiding us back to the original meeting point. Highly recommended.
This was a very good introduction to kyudo, you will get the opportunity to wear the gi and learn the form of how to shoot an arrow from the longbow. You'll quickly begin to realise you'll be concentrating on your form and body movements; this is how kyudo is considered meditative as you're not thinking about anything but your present body movements.
Fun experience in theory but if too many people then not so much. Daichi was good but we were unlucky and had a group of 7. Four of which in one group showed up late and took their time getting to the gym space. Two of which were lefties and we had to share 5 targets among 7 people. My wife and I ended up sharing one target on the far side but kept getting pushed over more to the near wall by the lefties and group of four hogging space. As result kept hitting concrete low hanging wall above my head with my bow and kept having to wait for wife to shoot to get enough space just to shoot safely and comfortably. Shot off about 1/2 the number of arrows compared to the other group members as I kept having to wait and readjust due to limited space. If you can get group of five or less then go for it. If not then avoid or you may get frustrated like I was and just did not really care by the end.
I had a fantastic time and learned so much. Our teacher was passionate about archery and explained each part step-by-step.
Got to practice at various distances, starting up close then moving back further and further.
Highly recommend, especially if you’re looking for a fun new experience.
I can't recommend this experience enough, if you are on the fence definitely do it! It feels so authentic and our teacher was fantastic. I was able to hit the target a few times, even from the farthest spot! It doesn't even feel super touristy and I could imagine anybody signing up for it not just foreigners. The others in my group were fun and because the group is small it is very enjoyable. Thank you for this, I loved it so much I hope there is a way to continue kyudo at home because I even like it more than western archery. I'm hooked!
Enjoyed myself and learnt more about the sport. Host was hosting us and also teaching other students at the same time, not sure if this is the same for other classes but he taught us how to handle the bow and arrow properly, along with some techniques used by different cultures.
Note that photos have to be taken by yourself (unless asked) for your own keepsake.
Some of the most fun I've ever had. Very supportive and skilled instructor. The lesson was overall very well planned, and the five of us each had a target to ourselves in the indoor range. The lesson taught me not to rush things and to work on my posture and focus.
This activity was so much fun! We got to learn all about Kyudo including how to wear the proper garments! Our guide was super enthusiastic and helpful; you can tell how passionate he is about Kyudo! Would recommend for anybody who wants to get their body moving during a trip to Japan!
The experience is of great value. it was so much fun. Tour is about 3 hours, including changing the clothes and the actual event. We had ample time to do the actual archery. The archery is harder than I thought. we practiced at different distances away from the target. But I loved every single minute of it. highly recommend this experience.
I loved the whole experience. The class really went like it was described. We had time for everything. The atmosphere, was friendly. The instructor properly introduced us to the art of kyudo. We learned about its history, cultural background and the technique. At the end of the class, we could take photos and videos for social media. Yes, in the training outfit. :)
I do recommend the experience to everyone who is interested. The price worth it in my opinion.
Great introduction to kyudo. Plenty of time to shoot as much as you like after learning the basic forms, even with 7 people trading across 5 spots. teacher's enthusiasm towards even the smallest successes of all his students was very encouraging. He was very attentive and an excellent teacher.
If you know nothing about archery and want to learn in Japan, then this is the right spot for you! So much fun, met some new friends that we even hangout during our time in Kyoto days later :) You have a better appreciation of the sport and in Osaka, I put my skills to the test at an archery booth and hit 3 bullseyes! People were impressed. Thank you Team Jun for amazing lesson and skills you helped me unlock!
We had a great time with this archery experience. It was fun to wear traditional robes and practice shooting. One area for improvement could have been the group size. We were sharing the dojo with 3 other Japanese shooters, which were not officially part of our group, however our guide was also helping them out in Japanese at the same time we were there. They were taking up 3 of the 5 shooting spots, which meant our group of 7 had to wait longer in order to shoot. We also felt as though we were annoying them, as they were clearly more experienced than us.
There was also a slight mixup with the end time. It was listed as finishing at 11am, and since we had a flight in the afternoon, we thought it would be a perfect morning activity. However, as the time approached 11:10am, we enquired with our guide and he told us we would be finished around 12. This would have been perfect, as we wanted more time to shoot, however due to our flight constraints we had to leave early. Had to time been accurately posted, we likely would have not been able to book this experience.
Overall, we still recommend this tour, as it is a very unique experience and we got a chance to take some nice photos.
We had a great afternoon learning how to use a traditional Japanese long bow in the centrally located Shibuya Sports Complex. Coach Jun provided a step by step lesson that progressed from practicing on a rubber band to shooting a full size long bow from a far distance. Coach Jun was clear and enthusiastic while teaching us. We enjoyed the experience from start to finish. The sports complex was located in a quiet area of Tokyo that offered a unique experience in itself. I highly recommend taking this Kyudo class if you are looking for an interactive cultural learning experience for the whole family..
A great teacher and was very knowledgeable about Japanese Archery. I would highly recommend this experience if you are into new challenges.
I highly recommend the Japanese archery experience class to anyone who is interested in learning the art of archery. The class provides excellent instruction on correct posture and technique, making it easy for beginners to pick up the basics of the sport. The instructors are knowledgeable and patient, and they create a supportive and encouraging learning environment. Overall, the class is a wonderful opportunity to gain a deeper appreciation for the precision and discipline that goes into Japanese archery, while also getting some exercise and having fun.
Amazing experience! We had a great time learning and practicing. Would definitely recommend it if you're interested in kyudo
Teacher was very knowledgeable, and great at teaching. You can tell he cared about us learning how to properly use the bow & arrow.
I booked this session for my parents and they said they had a wonderful time. My parents really wanted to try kyūdo and I’m happy that this experience allowed them to do so.
Well experience!!! Good teacher,Thank you for your teaching, we have a great moment.
We had a fascinating afternoon trying Japanese archery! The teacher and the others in the class were very friendly.
Wonderful Sensei! wonderful experience I want to do more already. Met new friends.
