Samurai Art of "TATE" Experience: Step into the Cinematic World

Welcome to Tokyo, Japan!

Step into the dramatic world of "TATE"—the cinematic sword-fighting art of the samurai. Far beyond standard tourist photo-ops, this exclusive program invites you into the authentic realm of Japanese stage and screen combat.

While mastering traditional Japanese swordsmanship usually requires years of rigorous training, our master practitioners bridge that gap. In just a few hours, under the direct guidance of professional Tate artists who have honed their craft for global entertainment, you will learn the core techniques, precise movements, and dramatic expressions of the legendary swordfighters.

--- The Art of the Blade & Stage ---
Your journey begins with a complete transformation. Unlike the simplified, tourist-style costumes common in standard experiences, you will wear authentic samurai and ninja attire actually used on professional stages by our global TATE masters. Slipping into this genuine gear instantly sharpens your focus, deepens your connection to the tradition, and prepares you for the art of the blade.

Through hands-on instruction, you will master the foundational Kata (forms) and stage-combat techniques. Discover how to balance stillness with explosive action, turning a simple swing into a captivating performance of Mind, Technique, and Body.

<Guide>
We are the group of professionals that performs samurai and ninja fight scenes with Japanese swords in our hands, known as "TATE".

Our goal is to hand down the Bushido and Samurai spirit that Japan is proud of to 1000 years into the future, and to the world.

There are many samurai instructors and sword fighting instructors in Japan, but among them, I am a veteran with more than 20 years of sword fighting experience.

The essence of bushido and samurai spirit is to refine your "mind".
Therefore, in my school, we aim to develop character based on the Bushido spirit. We teach based on the way of mind that has been handed down in Japan, centering on "benevolence, courtesy, loyalty, and sincerity."

We would like to refine people's mind and develop human resources who can contribute to the international community.

Trip: Authentic Samurai Experience Group Size: 4 (2 adults, 2 children/teens) Instructor(s): Kazu & Akiko It started with a great escort from the station by Akiko, who later took us back (super kind!). We had an awesome experience with Kazu and Akiko (assistant) instructors - extremely courteous and patient as we learned how to hold & draw swords properly. Not only techniques of sword use, but learing about the WHY was equally important. Kazu spent a good chunk of time teaching us how to hold, draw, use, and eventually spar (we played roles of winner/loser) - along the way explaining various meanings of each action. After that, we continued with a calligraphy lesson - writing the word "dragon" in kanji. I really enjoyed the meditative experience of this. We wrapped it all up with making our own matcha tea - stir it up more for those who want a less bitter taste. Kazu and Akiko made it a welcoming and fun way to experience a part of Japanese history.

Nasri & Hanie, RI 2019.3

This was such a fun experience. They gave great teachings on how to hold and swing a katana with style, i would do this again to get better at it! Being a film maker, it was interesting to hear the stories they had about performing at demos and training talents for camera.

Timothy, AU 2019/12
