Explore Tokyo in a different way
I can highly recommend this event for people who want to explore this great city in a different way. The trail gives you a good impression of what the city looks like. Our guide told us a lot about the many highlights that this city has, but also about places that only local people can find. At every important place, he took a picture of us so that you have a memory for later. After finishing the running tour, we recupperated our body in a local onsen bath in the open air of this world city. An unique experience! To make it complete, we finished the tour by having a diner in local hide out. The original local food was excellent! Our guide also offers hiking tours, unfortunately I did not have the time to book it.

Like Tokyo runners, let's jog together, take a public bath and have a drink at an izakaya!
Like local runners in Tokyo, let's jog together, take a public bath, and eat at a tavern where the locals gather!
1. Running part
Let's run 10 km, slowly together, through the streets of Tokyo.
Once we meet at McDonald's, we will walk to the public bathhouse. There, change into your running clothes, drop off your luggage, and depart.
This tour will take you to places where you can see how people live in Tokyo, rather than to so-called tourist attractions for foreign visitors.
For example, the buildings of JR Ueno Station, Ueno Park, Shinobazu Pond, Tokyo University, the Ochanomizu area(university clusters, musical instrument districts, bookstores, curry streets, sporting goods stores), traditional Japanese restaurants, Akihabara Electric Town, and Ameyoko Street which is more popular with locals than Tsukiji fish Market.
2. Bathing part
Public bathrooms are part of Japanese culture. In the past in Japan, there were no showers or baths in every home, and people gathered in public bathhouses.
The number of public bathhouses has now been drastically reduced, however, they still remain in central Tokyo.
And this is a part of Japanese culture today, but many public bathhouses do not accept people with tattoos.
But we bring everyone from all walks of life to quaint and lovely public baths in the city center.
When entering a public bathroom in Japan, the rule is to be completely naked. There are other basic procedures, which will be clearly communicated on site.
3. Izakaya (Japanese tavern) part
The goal of runners jogging with friends in Tokyo is to drink at an izakaya.
We will take you to the izakayas that Japanese people usually use, rather than the popular restaurants for foreign tourists or the special nice izakayas that are often used in other tours.

If you’re a comfortable runner and want to do something a bit different, this tour is fantastic! Communication from the tour company was great beforehand. We met with Jun and ran a loop taking in Ueno Park, the university area and the outskirts of the Imperial Palace. We had regular stops and Jun pointed out sights of interest. He also took loads of photos and shared them with us after (no extra fee!!). The public bathing experience was completely new to us but don’t be put off if you’re in any way self conscious... it was quite liberating and sooo nice on the legs / body after the run! Plus, it’s normal for the Japanese and they just get on with it! And then dinner... wow!! Jun booked us into a small local Japanese restaurant and joined us for dinner. He ordered and then explained what we were eating and the different Japanese traditions as we ate. The food, especially the smoked and pickled quail eggs, was amazing! We would like to say a huge thank you to Jun for hosting us on this tour. It was far from a standard tourist tour, definitely took us off the beaten track and we were privileged to get a glimpse of local life. ** Please note, we weren’t sure how to play it with our belongings... so, FYI, you start running from the public baths where you are able to change into your running stuff and leave bags etc as that’s where you run back to!
